With this passage [$1.39 billion authorization for flood control in the Natomas Basin in the Water Resources Reform and Development Act of 2014 (WRRDA)], we are now in the process of being able to continue improving and making safer a significant portion of Sacramento. Though WRRDA was the first step in securing our levees, it has been the hardest step for a very long time. Your personal connections with the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee ensured that Sacramento was represented in the final language of the bill.
You and your team artfully worked within the constructs of House and Senate Rules to find workable solutions and ensure that those in decision making positions were aware of the challenges we all faced. Our members of the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange will find new opportunities to build and construct in the Sacramento Region because of this bill and your efforts. Again, we cannot thank you enough for what you did or speak more highly of the services you provided.
